Visual debate
I want to discuss the topic of color. In high school, my friends and I came up with a theory for the color each individual sees. Say that I look at an umbrella… and I say that this umbrella is orange. That’s what I call it. Orange. Now, another guy comes up and calls that same umbrella the color orange. We both know to call that color orange. But how do we know we are visually seeing the same color? For instance, we both call this umbrella orange, but his orange may be my blue. If I were to see the umbrella through his eyes, I would be seeing a blue umbrella. However, we have been raised to call the color of the umbrella orange, so that’s how we identify the color. We could be looking at the subject from 2 completely different perspectives.
